Find a route to care

What does care by screen involve?

When this comes up

An online visit would fit your day. You want to know what happens beyond filling in a form.

Ask how the person treating you will review your health and answer your questions. Have your health notes ready. Give the service your location for the visit.

Agreement and health checks still matter

Informed consent means agreeing to care after it is explained. As of October 3, 2026, the usual Arizona rule is to obtain this agreement before online care. Some emergencies are exceptions to that usual rule.

As of October 3, 2026, an office visit is not a required first step for every prescription given through online care in Arizona. The person treating you still needs to examine you and follow the rules for that medicine.

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona puts the duty to judge whether online care meets your health needs on the professional treating you. This includes whether you need an examination or treatment in the same room.

  • Can I ask the person treating me another question after the visit?
  • How will you examine me through the screen?
  • Does this medicine require an office visit under state or federal rules?
  • How would a physical examination or blood tests be arranged if needed?
  • What happens if online care cannot meet my health needs?

Check permission to treat you from another state

As of October 3, 2026, Arizona telehealth registration lets certain professionals with a licence from another state treat people in Arizona by screen. This is a sign-up process with the Arizona board for that person's job. It requires a licence with no restrictions and a check of past board actions, among other steps. This registration and a full Arizona licence are distinct forms of permission.

As of October 3, 2026, that registration by itself gives no permission to provide care in person in Arizona.

Ask for the person's Arizona licence number or telehealth registration record. Check it with the Arizona board for that person's job. If they say another rule gives them permission to treat you, ask the board to explain that rule. Give the service your location for the visit, even when the treating professional is in a different state.
