Ask the next question
What happens after the conversation?
When this comes up
The visit is over. You want to think through the plan, ask another question, or raise a concern about the care.
Keep the medicine name, the treating person's name, the pharmacy details, and the written costs together. Use those notes when asking your next question.
Before agreeing to the next step
- Can I explain the goal and the proposed product in my own words?
- Do I have the full costs and the refill terms?
- Who answers a question about the medicine?
- What is the follow-up plan if my concern changes?
If your notes leave a question unanswered, ask the person treating you or the pharmacist. Ask about the exact medicine or charge that is unclear.
Match a concern to the right route
Direct complaints about MD doctors to Arizona's Medical Board. Complaints about DO doctors go to Arizona's DO board.
Arizona's Nursing Board accepts complaints about nurses who may have broken nursing laws or rules.
Arizona’s Attorney General has a consumer route for reporting unfair or misleading business practices. It does not promise that a complaint will be resolved.
MedWatch is the Food and Drug Administration's reporting service for medicine problems. Patients can file a report themselves without a fee.
Choose the route that fits the concern. Keep a factual record of what happened and what answer you are seeking. A report is separate from getting care for a current medical problem.
