Find a route to care
Who makes and sends the medicine?
When this comes up
You know the service handling the visit. The page is less clear about who will prepare and send the medicine.
Ask for that name before making a choice. Keep the person treating you, the service, and the pharmacy on separate lines in your notes.
Check permission to send medicine to Arizona
As of October 3, 2026, an Arizona permit is required when an out-of-state pharmacy sends medicine into Arizona. The pharmacy also needs permission to operate in its home state.
Ask to see both permits. Use the full pharmacy name to ask each state's Pharmacy Board about a permit you cannot find or understand.
Compounded means a medicine prepared to order.
As of October 3, 2026, the permit alone does not show that a particular medicine made to order is allowed under Arizona and federal law.
A badge answers a narrower question
Accreditation means a group outside the pharmacy checks how it does its work. One such group is the Accreditation Commission for Health Care, called ACHC. Its pharmacy check, called PCAB, checks how medicines are made to order, rather than testing every batch. This check is different from a state licence.
Ask who gave the badge and which parts of the pharmacy's work they checked.
Food and Drug Administration is shortened to FDA. As of September 26, 2026, being registered with FDA does not mean a drug-making facility or its products have approval.
- Which pharmacy or facility prepares my medicine?
- Which Arizona permit covers it?
- Who answers questions about the label and storage?
- Can I have those details in writing?
Use the full pharmacy name when asking Arizona's Pharmacy Board about the relevant permit. Ask for help with a record you cannot find or understand.
